Instruction Includes:

  • Fundamentals of fire behavior, suppression, and tactical operations
     
  • PPE and SCBA use, donning/doffing, and maintenance
     
  • Search and rescue, ladders, ventilation, and forcible entry
     
  • Live fire evolutions following NFPA 1403 guidelines
     
  • Team communication, accountability, and safety practices

 

Evaluation Includes:

  • Practical JPR (Job Performance Requirement) assessments
     
  • Written knowledge testing aligned with OFC criteria
     
  • Live fire skill evaluations
     
  • Documentation and verification for OFC certification


 

Instruction Includes:

  • Emergency vehicle operation, safety, and legal responsibilities
     
  • Pump theory, pressure/flow calculations, and hydraulics
     
  • Water supply operations: hydrants, drafting, relay pumping
     
  • Apparatus inspection, preventive maintenance, and documentation

 

Evaluation Includes:

  • Practical driving and pump operation assessments
     
  • Flow rate and hydraulic performance testing
     
  • Completion of OFC-aligned skill sheets and performance records


  • Will consolidate and eventually replace NFPA 1002 and related standards, providing a single framework for emergency vehicle driver and apparatus operator training.

  • Leadership development, supervision, and communication
     
  • Incident command and tactical decision-making
     
  • Performance evaluations, reports, and personnel management
     
  • Conflict resolution

 

Evaluation Includes:

  • Scenario-based leadership and command assessments
     
  • Administrative task evaluations (incident reports, personnel forms)
     
  • Written and oral evaluations for officer competencies


  • Following OFC standards and guidelines


 

Instruction Includes:

  • Lesson plan development and course preparation
     
  • Classroom and practical instructional techniques
     
  • Evaluation tools, feedback strategies, and student engagement
     
  • Program coordination and curriculum design for fire training programs

 

Evaluation Includes:

  • Review of lesson plan design and instructional delivery
     
  • Instructor observation and competency scoring using OFC rubrics
     
  • Documentation of JPR completion and instructor performance feedback


 Instruction Includes:

  • Understanding AI and its application in fire service education
     
  • Using AI tools to design lesson plans, JPRs, and evaluation documents (JPRs)
     
  • Developing training matrices to track department competencies and schedules
     
  • Creating course budgets and cost projections efficiently
     
  • Program development using AI-supported curriculum mapping
     
  • Enhancing classroom delivery and student engagement with AI-based tools
     
  • Integrating AI workflows into AHJ and NFPA-compliant programs
     
  • Generating scenarios and presentations, through AI assistance

Evaluation Includes:

 

  • Review of AI-created lesson plans and JPRs for NFPA compliance
     
  • Assessment of training matrices and budget templates for accuracy and usability
     
  • Evaluation of participant-created instructional materials
     
  • AI-assisted feedback to improve efficiency, organization, and instructional design
     
  • Post-course digital package including sample templates and workflows


 

  • Course design and customization to meet AHJ or departmental needs
     
  • Instructor mentorship and evaluator development sessions
     
  • Assistance with documentation, course registration, and OFC certification
     
  • On-site or regional delivery anywhere in Alberta
